Recently Diaspora went live and have started rolling out their services in alpha phase. JoinDiaspora is an open source social networking and is based on Pod and Ecosystem.
According to JoinDiaspora team:-
Diaspora*’s distributed design is a huge part of it. Like the Internet itself, Diaspora* isn’t housed in any one place, and it’s not controlled by any one entity (including us). We’ve created software that lets you set up and run your own social network on your own “pod” (or server) and connect your network to the larger Diaspora* ecosystem. You can have a pod all to yourself, or one for just you and your friends, or your family, giving you complete ownership and control over your personal social information (including your identity, your posts, and your photos) and how it’s all stored and shared. Or you can simply join one of more than 20 open pods.
At this moment, JoinDiaspora is not open to all. Those who registered for account at JoinDiaspora long back, have got invitation and those who missed the registration during initial days, need an invitation to join alpha phase of JoinDiaspora.

Today when I googled and tried to get invitation for JoinDiaspora, I was shocked to see the price for invitation. Here is what they (some selfish bloggers) are asking you to get an invitation to JoinDiaspora

What a selfishness! When you used wordpress or Blogspot as your blogging platform, did Matt or Google asked you to like their page at Facebook? When you joined Diaspora Social network, did they ask you to retweet there news feed?
If not, then why you are showing cheapness. Sending invitation is 100% your right, but asking some favour isn’t ethical at all.
Blog masters! Don’t forget that it is your readers who have made you at this level where you are today. Your page rank 4 or 5 is having no meaning if you starts bargaining your readers for an invitation of Diaspora.
